Employment Opportunities

Why work at the YMCA?

Imagine being a part of one of the most respected human services organizations in the world – a place where your work positively influences the lives of others, a place where you thrive in a values-based environment, a place where you are building a better future for yourself and your community.

At the Piscataquis Regional YMCA, we focus on Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. We have been working for over 25 years to help our members and friends reach their health and wellness goals. We work with many other organizations to help make our community a better place to live and grow. That’s why we’re continually looking for talented, enthusiastic people with a passion for helping others and the desire to make a difference.

Below are some of positions that we are often looking to fill. When an opening comes up, we look at applications that are already on file. Applications can be picked up at the YMCA Welcome Center or you can also download a copy of our employment application. Please complete it and drop it off in person at the Welcome Center.

LifeGuards

The Piscataquis Regional YMCA is looking for dedicated people who want to make a difference in our community. We often need lifeguards for a variety of shifts and days. Previous experience is not necessary and training is available, but applicants should be confident swimmers.

Swim Instructors

Swim Instructors are responsible for providing instructional swim lessons for infants, preschool and youth participants. They are also expected to enforce aquatic rules and policies by maintaining constant surveillance of class participants. Previous experience is not necessary and training is available. Swim instructors must be 15 years of age

Part-Time Welcome Center Staff

The staff at the Welcome Center provides the first point of contact for members. Those interested in working at the Welcome Center must be able to communicate well and be focused on providing excellent customer service. We will provide training in specific software, but a familiarity with computers and Microsoft Office applications is required. Previous experience as a receptionist is not required, but would be preferred.

Part-Time Child Care Staff

Join the largest child-care provider in the United States! The YMCA cares for more kids every day than any other organization and we want you to be part of the fun. Our child care staff works in our preschool and aftercare program, child watch services, and camps. While previous child care experience is not required, it is preferred. What is required is a willingness to educate children while providing a safe and entertaining environment.

Part-Time Group Exercise Instructors

Get paid to work out! We need energetic people to teach group exercise classes. Instructors are responsible for developing their own routines and curriculum and must be willing to obtain the necessary certifications. The PRYMCA offers everything from Step Aerobics to Zumba to Yoga to Boot Camp. Do you have a new class you want to teach? Let us know.

      • Chris Wesley directed me to put in my application for lifeguard. He knows I have completed the online YMCA courses and informed me of the certification class in June that I plan on attending. Can you send the application to me via email? I dont see one at this website. Thank You!
