Youth Dance Classes

Morita’s Youth Dance classes will be returning for its fourth year at the Piscataquis Regional YMCA. Classes will be on Monday’s this year that has classes that range in ages from 3 year old’s up through 6th grade. Classes will begin Monday, October 7th.  There will be classes on Columbus Day and Veterans Day.

Here are the class options and times that will be offered:

  • 3:00-3:30 – Age 3 through Grade K – Acro Dance
  • 3:30-4:15 – Age 3 through Grade K – Tap & Ballet Combination
  • 4:15-4:45 – Grades K-2nd – Acro Dance
  • 4:45-5:30 – Grades K-2nd – Tap & Ballet Combination
  • 5:30-6:30 – Grades 3rd-6th – Tap & Ballet Combination
  • 6:30-7:00 – Grades 3rd-6th – Jazz
  • 7:00-7:30 – Grades 3rd-6th – Acro Dance

There will be a Registration and Shoe Fitting Session on Monday, September 16th from 5:00-6:30pm. You can also register online as of today at the following link: www.moritasschoolofdance.com

 

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

  • Acro Dance (Age 3 thru Grade K) Acro dance is a style of dance that blends dance technique and styles with acrobatic elements. Morita’s School of Dance is a Certified Acrobatic Arts Studio. Within the class, students will work at their own pace on progression based skills and will have strict requirements that have to be met to safely and confidently move to the next level. Our classes focus on 40% conditioning, 25% flexibility, 20% balancing skills, 15% tumbling (only up to aerials and back handsprings) This class is for dancers aged 3-5, and any dancers in Kindergarten who have not danced before. Must be taken in conjunction with a tap & ballet class

 

  • Tap & Ballet Combo (Age 3 thru Grade K) Level: Beginner This combination class introduces students to the wonderful worlds of tap and ballet. Each class has a corresponding syllabus appropriate for each level, which allows students to grow as dancers. This class is for dancers aged 3-5, and any dancers in Kindergarten who have not danced before.

 

  • Acro Dance (Grades K-2) Acro dance is a style of dance that blends dance technique and styles with acrobatic elements. Within the class, students will work at their own pace on progression based skills and will have strict requirements that have to be met to safely and confidently move to the next level. Our classes focus on 40% conditioning, 25% flexibility, 20% balancing skills, 15% tumbling (only up to aerials and back handsprings). This class is for dancers in Kindergarten who have danced before, and dancers in Grades 1st to 2nd. Must be taken in conjunction with a tap & ballet class.

 

  • Tap & Ballet Combo (Grades K-2) Level: Advanced Beginner This combination class continues to develop students tap and ballet techniques. Each class has a corresponding syllabus appropriate for each level, which allows students to grow as dancers.

 

  • Tap & Ballet Combo (Grades 3-6) Level: Advanced Beginner This combination class continues to develop students tap and ballet techniques. Each class has a corresponding syllabus appropriate for each level, which allows students to grow as dancers.

 

  • Jazz (Grades 3-6) Level: Advance Beginner Jazz classes help develop all student’s technique, performance ability and musicality, while incorporating the various forms of jazz music and jazz dance styles that everyone will enjoy. Hip Hop dance is a dynamic form of dance, where students develop coordination and musicality, while having fun learning all the latest moves to hip hop music appropriate for all ages.
