Waves Swim Team Head Coach Position

The Piscataquis Regional YMCA has an opening for our Waves Swim Team Head Coach position. The swim team season runs from mid-October until the first week of March. The position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found. Applications can be picked up at the PRYMCA Welcome Center or you can also download a copy of our employment application. Please complete it and drop it off in person at the YMCA in Dover-Foxcroft, mail it to PRYMCA at 48 Park St., Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426 or scan and email it to Chris Wesley at c.wesley@prymca.org. Any questions go to our Program and Aquatics Director, Chris Wesley. Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Head Swim Team Coach is responsible for the management and operation of the PRYMCA Waves Swim Team. The coach follows and enforces safety standards and other policies and procedures. The principal duties include:

1) working with assistant coaches to develop, plan, prepare and conduct swim team practices for Beginning Level to the Advanced Level swimmers

2) actively participate and work with the YMCA Maine Swimming League in order to assure team participation in all available swim meets, invitational, and Y state meet

3) plan meet lineups, and provide on deck coaching for all age groups Train, evaluate and supervise all assistant & volunteer swim team coaches

4) maintain accurate records of attendance and training, evaluate swimmers periodically and make recommendations for progression through the program

5) perform various administrative duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director, including communication with parents via email, phone and team website

6) coordinate with parent volunteer group responsibilities in the areas of home and away   meets that include fundraising (selling snacks at home meets, swim-a-thon, etc…) and working with any parent volunteer leaders.

Requirements:

 Must be at least 21 years of age

 Must maintain current First Aid, CPR/AED, and Swim Coach (with YMCA of the USA) certifications

 Swim coaching experience preferred but not a requirement

 Working knowledge of how to input and use both Team Manager and Meet Manager Software is preferred but not a requirement

 Possess and demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills

 Ability to have a flexible work schedule

 Possess strong interpersonal skills to maintain a trusting relationship with children, parents & staff

 Commitment to the goals and objectives of the YMCA

 Ability to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with YMCA standards
